I am going to start from the beginning for those of you who don't know the whole story. It is going to be a long story...
When we went dress shopping for Morgan, we all found out that my cousin Wendi had lost a ton of weight and was going to be on the Dr. Phil show. She has been overwieght pretty much her whole life, so this is a HUGE thing! On March 13th Morgan and I are about to go into the mall to have Morgan do her alterations when I get a call from an unknown number, I usually don't answer numbers I don't know, but for some reason I did this time. It was a girl named Stephanie from the Dr. Phil show. She asked me if I knew about Wendi and then asked me a few other questions about her and the last time I saw her, etc... Then it was over. Well a little bit later she ended up calling me back and asked if I was in a position to be able to fly out there to suprise her on the show. I told her I could and waited to find out for sure if I would be able to go. This guy named Tony-one of the producers, called me and talked to me for a bit and said that I would be going. Originally I was going to fly out on Monday and the taping of the show would be Tuesday morning, but then they decided to fly me out Sunday morning, so they could tape me and then I would have all of Monday to do whatever.
Since Dan has work and school, we decided it would be easiest if we take the girls to my Mom's house for the couple of days. So on Saturday we went down and dropped them off. Oh, and by the way my Mom called and talked me into packing extra stuff to have them stay the whole week since we were going down the next weekend for Easter. So we left them in Delta and came back up to Orem. On the way up we ran into a huge snowstorm, but we finally made it home. We stopped at the mall, so I could try to find some cute shirts, then we went home so I could pack. Then the fun began...
I woke up at 5am on Sunday feeling completely sick. I started throwing up and I just didn't have the energy to get ready. We knew that we had to be to the airport by at least 9, so I had to shower and get my hair all done (they were going to film me right when I got there), but while getting all ready I kept having to throw up. I really thought that I might miss my flight, but to be perfectly honest I didn't care. I was tired and felt like crap. Well we got to the airport and my license had expired, so I had to go through extra security, but come to find out, that is the way to go, because I got through the line so much faster. I boarded the plan like 5 minutes before it took off. I did throw up on the flight once. I was back waiting for whoever to get out of the bathroom and I was talking to the flight attendants when I knew it was coming and I told the poor sweet women. They grabbed me a bag and I barely made it. I didn't feel as stupid as I thought I would doing it in front of them. We talked for awhile after as well. These women were so sweet.
When we landed it was such a difference in weather. It was snowing when I left Utah and when I got to CA it was green and sunny. It was wonderful! After we landed I went to go get my bagage and when I walked through the doors, there is a man holding a sign that said Tiffany Brooks. How funny is that. Dan laughed pretty hard when he knew that. This drivers name was Warren, (to be honest, he wasn't a very good driver). He went with me to get my bag and then we left to go to the shoot. Well come to find out they were running behind schedule, so I had to sit in the stupid car for 2 hours while I waited for them to finish. I was exhausted and sick still and so I wasn't too happy with this. The shoot was pretty wierd, I know that I can't be an actor. I'm too much of a retard. They told me what to say and I had to pretend that I was packing my bags to fly out to LA. It only took about a half an hour, but then we had to wait for my stupid driver. He had dropped me off and then went to get something to eat, but wasn't back by the time we were done. Apperently he had run into some of his friends and took his sweet time. I finally got to my hotel and pretty much slept the rest of the day.
The next day I felt 100% better. I had breakfast, one waffle that cost me $13, and it wasn't very good. I didn't really know what to do and I was by myself, so I didn't really want to go anywhere. My hotel was pretty close to Universal Studios and just outside of the park there are shops and stuff (Universal City Walk). I rode the shuttle to that place and just walked around for a couple of hours. Bought a few things and then went back to my room. That was pretty much the closest thing, and I didn't really want to call a taxi, so I just read and stayed in my room. It was relaxing though. I was planning on taking my shower and getting ready that night, becuase I was suppose to be down to the car at 7am, but then Stephanie called and said that they were moving everything up and so I had to be to the car at 6:15am. I got ready and went to bed early!
The next morning I packed everything up and left for the studio. I had my own dressing room and they did my hair and makeup. The show didn't start til a little after 9, so it was kinda a long morning. There was a lot of sitting around waiting. Finally the show starts, but they don't have me go out until a few minutes into it (I couldn't have Wendi see me since it was a suprise). I sat on the front row and when Wendi was about to come out they showed a little clip of me from the other day and then Dr. Phil asked me a question or two and then Wendi came out. It was pretty shocking to see her, I haven't seen her for 6 years. She looked beautiful! I didn't really get to talk to her until after the show, but we did get to chat a bit during it. The show was good I guess. I don't ever watch Dr. Phil, so I didn't really care much, but we did get some good gifts! Afterwords, Wendi came to my dressing room to get ready and they changed plans, so we had the same driver to the airport. We at least got to spend 45 minutes or so together. It has been so long since I have seen her, that I forgot how dang funny she is. Some things never change! :) We got to the airport and went our seperate ways. I got on the plane and got home to my wonderful husband who I missed terribly. It was a good and relaxing little trip (for the most part), but I would much rather have a crazy, wild one with my little family.
It was wonderful to see Wendi, even if it was for only a short time. You look awesome Wendi!!! (I'll put a pic of us on when I get it.)
I don't know when the show will air, but maybe if you are all nice to me and I feel like letting you watch me (trust me I look like a retard) I will tell you when I find out!
